New premises for Ngati Ranginui
For many years, the Society was located in the McLean House Building in McLean Street behind the Tauranga Central Court House. The building is owned by the Ministry of Justice who in 2009 indicated their intention to redevelop the McLean House Building for their own purposes. So in September 2009 the Society relocated to the Old Tauranga Post office Building next to the McLean House Building. The Runanga felt very fortunate to secure the lease of these premises as it holds so much history and are privileged to become a part of that history. The Iwi officially blessed and moved into the new premises on the 27th September 2009. To those of you who have not had an opportunity to visit the new premises ‘Nau mai, haere mai ki to matou kainga’ all are welcome to visit.
