The Trustees of Ngā Mātarae Charitable Trust are pleased to offer the Ngā Mātarae Scholarship Programme.  The Trust is a partnership between the Port of Tauranga and Tauranga Iwi with the primary purpose to promote the wellbeing of Te Awanui Tauranga Harbour.  Applicants intending to undertake study in a discipline that will benefit the wellbeing of the harbour and who are descendants of Tauranga Moana iwi (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi and Ngāti Pūkenga) are invited to apply.

An Applicant must be able to provide evidence of tribal affiliation with only Tauranga Iwi (either Ngāi Te Rangi, or Ngāti Ranganui, or Ngāti Pūkenga) and application eligibility requirements are outlined in the Application.  An eligible application must include the completed Whakapapa Form showing the applicant’s primary line to show primary affiliations.

The scholarship is $1,500 per year with recipients eligible for continued entitlement up to 3 years.  This continued support is conditional on the recipient’s performance during the year and confirmation of plans to continue with the qualifying education in subsequent years.

Applications close at midday on Wednesday 24 January 2018.

For more info contact Louise Aprea on 07 572 8865 or louisea@port-tauranga.co.nz

News from the Chairman's Desk

Tena koutou,

It is with compassion and understanding that I inform you of Steph O’Sullivan’s decision to resign as CEO of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Ranginui.

After some reflection and recent time with her family Steph has decided to depart to support her family through a time of change and ill health.
I would like to acknowledge Steph’s contribution to the Rūnanga and the achievements made over the 2 ½ years that she has been our CEO.

A transition period is to follow however, from 31st October 2017 Dr Wendy Gillespie will be Interim CEO while the Board goes through its appointment process. Wendy is of Ngāti Kahungunu descent and has a wealth of experience in the NGO sector, private business and as a senior official working in different agencies and with Ministers. Her strengths in strategy, business development and coaching will help guide the Rūnanga through an exceptionally busy and exciting time.

If you have any queries, please contact our Board secretary Trina Pohatu-Mcqueen @ trina.pohatu-mcqueen@ranginui.co.nz

Ngā mihi

Tawharangi Nuku
Chairman
