Picture
Through May and June, Mauri Ora are conducting a 6 week cooking competition to see who is our master chief of Tauranga moana. This wero not only brings out the best kai cookers in Tauranga, but allows:
  • Manaakitanga through whānau having access to other delicious kai ideas
  • Whanaungatanga in the hope that all whānau members help out in the kitchen

The whakataetae is simple and easy for our whānau to engage in.
They must:
  1. Cook a kai for four or more whānau members
  2. Kai must be less $50
  3. Must include 5 fruit or vegetables
  4. Must take less then 60min to cook

Each week Mauri Ora will randomly select a lucky whānau from the entries who will receive a koha.

At the end of 6th week Mauri Ora will invite two whānau who have participated in the event. They will be invited to a final cook off with special judges Mel Tata, Stephen Wilson (Happy Puku), and Charlie Rahiri. The whanau that wins will be rewarded, but also the whānau that particpates.

onoWIKI - TUNU KAI WERO
In addition to this kaupapa, Mauri Ora is supporting a young wahine named Innocence Henry who was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma Cancer on New Year’s Eve 2020. To show our support, for every participant who enters a kai into the tunu kai wero, Mauri Ora will contribute to her kaupapa.
